{soups-salads-and-salad-dressings} BLT Salad


Hubby and I (Mostly hubby, I was moral support and cheerleader!) replaced a washer on our almost 30 year old kitchen faucet yesterday.  WOW, talk about fish out of water.  LOL  Only took about 3 hours.  First, we didn’t have the right size Allen wrench to get the nut off, so off her went to the ice cream store to get his stash of wrenches from there.  Then we got the handle off, couldn’t get the plastic assembly off that held the washer below.  That took another 30 minutes or so.  Then when he finally got the washer off, he only had another 30 minutes to get to ACE Hardware before they closed.  45 minutes later he comes back.  We put it on, too tight.  Then too loose.  Then just right.  It still drips OCCASIONALLY if it’s not shut off right, but it’s much better than it was!  It was like watching a Marx brother’s movie!  LOL  Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


BLT Salad
Quick Cooking

"My husband and I love BLT sandwiches, especially in the summer when tomatoes are fresh and plentiful," relates Deborah Heatwole of Waynesboro, Georgia. "This salad showcases the flavors of that classic sandwich easily and deliciously."

TIME: Prep/Total Time: 10 minutes.

4 bacon strips, diced
4 cups spring mix salad greens
1 medium tomato, chopped
1/2 cup cubed cheddar cheese
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 to 2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons cider vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup salad croutons


In a skillet or microwave, cook bacon until crisp. Drain on paper towels. In a salad bowl, combine the greens, tomato and cheese. In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper. Pour over salad; toss to coat. Sprinkle with bacon and croutons. Yield: 4 servings.
