Chili Recipe By : Susan McKinnon Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Beef & Veal Family & Friends Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 3 tablespoons butter -- or salad oil 1 large onion -- chopped 1/2 cup chopped celery 1 green pepper -- chopped 1 pound ground beef -- or more to taste 6 ounces tomato paste 1 large canned tomatoes 1 small canned tomatoes 1 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons sugar 3 whole cloves 4 tablespoons chili powder 1 can kidney beans -- or 2 cans Combine butter in skillet or sauce pan. Add the onion, celery, green peppers a nd ground beef, saute until meat is brown but not crusty, drain. Stir frequent ly separating meat with a fork. Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, sugar, c loves and chili powder, blend well. Cover. Over high heat until the mixture s teams, then reduce heat to simmer and cook 45 minutes. Remove cloves, add kidney beans and simmer 15 minutes longer. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - NOTES : Very good.
